7th and
8th Grade Incentive Party
Students and teachers are excited about the plans for the first “Incentive Party” of the year for some middle school students which will be Friday, October 24th. Rewarding those students who complete their work and get it turned in on time is the driving force behind the plans for the party. Students who receive three tallies or less will be allowed to attend the festivities that day. One late paper constitutes one tally mark, while an assignment not turned in is considered two tally marks. Teaching responsibility and accountability for work is also part of the educational system and students who display those characteristics are rewarded for it with this half day of fun.
Several of the students were given the opportunity to brainstorm ideas for what kids would like to do if given the opportunity. Many good ideas were presented, but ultimately, the suggestion for a town scavenger hunt, which is to include digital photos of required stops, was the winning idea. Additionally, students wanted to be able to select their own location for lunch in town, so many will be found at the various eating establishments in and around Cheney.
Past incentive party days included such things as bowling, eating at Towne West, watching movies, and playing various outdoor games just to mention a few. With the cost of gas recently, it was determined that it would be more feasible to remain in our own community for this first party of the year and that there is plenty to do without travelling to other locations. Hats off to those students who display responsibility and get to go! They will also make great employees in the work force someday!
