Program Definition

The Cheney Elementary School’s counseling program is an education program involving a comprehensive system for facilitating the personal-social, educational, and career development of all students.  Counseling is provided to individuals and small groups.  The counselor uses a preventive model of guidance and counseling in large groups.  Counselor consultation, collaboration, and coordination provide students with a sense of consistency within the school, and among school, home and community.  (Kansas Task Force, 1997)
