Behavior Guidelines

 1. Visit quietly in assigned desk until class officially begins. The QUIET SIGNAL will signify students to stop, look, listen & signal others. It will also be used for time between activities, directions & discussions.

 2. I expect people to be listening while I am talking or a classmate is talking. Do not talk while others are unless told otherwise.

 3. Leave classroom equipment & environment alone. Do not move desks unless told. Leave the teacher’s desk & computer area alone. Do not put items on or borrow from there without permission. Borrow supplies & access equipment from the designated areas in the classroom when necessary—no need to ask. Do not walk behind the teacher’s desk unless she is back there.

 4. Plan bathroom use, locker business & pencil sharpening outside of class time.

 5. Use study time wisely—working, not visiting.

 6. Cooperate with others.

 7. Do not throw things without permission.

 8. Use appropriate language. Do not say shut-up or call names. One warning for saying shut-up; after that, it’s detention time.

 9. The teacher does not want to see cell phones,

I-pods & the like in the classroom.

Other Information

BONUS is an opportunity for students to show they know more than what's expected. Not knowing doesn't hurt; it can only help. The teacher determines when bonus is part of an assignment.

EXTRA CREDIT is not allowed in this class.  It's when students ask for more work because they can't meet the expectations. If students do their best on what is required, extra credit won't be needed.

MEETING DEADLINES is an expectation of this class. Late work will result in partial credit earned.

·          assignment done, but left in locker or not printed out but can be produced immediately, 90% credit

·          late, but turned in later that day or the very next day w/out a reminder, 80% credit

·          late, turned in two days later, 70%

·          3 days until a week late, 50% credit; after that 0%

The teacher has the right to extend deadlines for late work in certain situations. A modification of the consequences may occur if the behavior is habitual.

MAKE-UP WORK is to be picked up ASAP upon the day returning to school. Do it  in a timely manner without a reminder to keep the 15 daily ctz./ntbk. points. Students have two days to complete the make-up work. If necessary, talk to the instructor about it or for an extension or exception, but do so at an appropriate time.

·          Gone Monday, picked up work Tues., Wed. is day #1, Thurs. is day #2. Work due Thurs. during your block.

·          Gone Tues., picked up work on Wed., then gone again on Thurs. &  returned Fri.? Student & teacher will talk about the due dates.

The teacher will do her best to grant requests to get work to the office should a student be home ill. Requests for compiling work ahead of time due to lengthy vacations will not be granted, so upon return to class, the student should be prepared to keep up with current course work. Also, upon return, the teacher & student will meet to discuss reasonable due dates for the missed work.

DISCIPLINE MATTERS will first be dealt with privately with a warning if the situation allows for it. Detentions are after school with start time at 3:25. Students will be given a chance to notify parents to arrange transportation if necessary.

COMPUTER USE is a privilege. Classroom PC’s & laptops are for student use. Respect them. It is not a storage area for student materials. The teacher’s computer is not to be used without permission.
