Technology Integration

 

 

  • Seventh grade communications students do= not attend a separate computer class.

 

  • Laptops, PCs in the tech lab and classro= om will be utilized almost daily.

 

  • Laptop use will require students to get = used to a mouse pad rather than an external mouse. =

 

·        &n= bsp; <= span style=3D'font-family:Arial;color:white'>Typing proge= ss will be monitored by taking words per minute quizzes three times a year (= not for a grade).

 =

  • Daily work, weekly assignments, as well = as larger projects often require word processing on school computers. N= ot all work is computer related though. Students have a choice on some assignments.

 

  • Home computers are NOT a requirement to = do well in this class. Ample time will be provided during class time to= complete computer work. Should that not be enough for some, advisory time is = an option as are before/after school times – provided the student= communicates with the instructor.

 

  • If a student chooses to take computer re= lated work home, use of a jump drive is encouraged over backpack learning = station (for sometimes backpack can not be trusted).  The instructor can also use= email to assist the student wishing to work at home; however, the student = must remember to email back—and attach the work.<= /b>

 

  • If computer problems occur at home, the = student will be given the benefit of the doubt provided notification occurs = as soon as possible.

 

  • It is the student’s responsibility= to know in which format to save documents if different versions exist between home and school.

 

  • Technology in 7th grade communications also involves using a digital video camera and related software. Again, the student does NOT have to have one at home—= ;no matter what they might tell you they need for Christmas or their birthday.<= o:p>

 

  • Although the instructor is fairly comput= er & technology savvy, she knows just enough to be dangerous and mess up stuff! She is not too proud to learn a thing or two about computers = from her students.
