Homework Suggestions For
Parents
6th
Grade Mathematics – Mr. Johnson
|
- Be sure your child is doing the assignment on
the day that it was given – this
way
the information is fresh in their mind.
|
- Have your son/daughter go back to the pages
done in class previously and check spiral work done on those
concepts. (All our work is to be
kept in their 3-ring notebooks.
|
- Have them apply the 4-step method to solving
problems. This will be discussed
and utilized throughout the year.
A model of this can be found in their agenda.
|
- Ask them what it is they do not understand;
they should be specific and not cop out by saying, “all of it!”.
|
- Have them show you what they learned in class
and see if you can use that method to help them work through the problem. Explain how your multiplication or
division method might be different, but tackling the problem is the
same.
|
- If all else fails they can come see me first
thing and I will arrange for them to see me at C.A.T. time (Cardinal
Academic Time) or before school the next morning. Keep in mind this won’t work the day
homework is due and that is why they should do all work the day it is
assigned.
|
- When all is lost you can call me at home after
8:30 p.m. at 542-3392.
