Chapter 11 Objectives:

·        The students will identify the key concepts of Kansas’ involvement in World War II

·        The students will compare and contrast the war effort on the home front for WWII and the Iraqi War

·        The students will discover what life was like in Kansas after WWII and under President Eisenhower

·        The students will identify ways in which land was adapted to prevent flooding

·        The students will identify the concept of  “separate but equal”

·        The students will examine primary source documents that illustrate the separate but equal laws and the affect they have on African Americans.

·        The students will experience the concepts of discrimination and segregation in public schools

·        The students will describe the importance of the court case Brown vs. Topeka Board of Education had on desegregation of schools
