History of the Constitution

 

 

 

 

 

Unit Objectives: 

·        The students will identify the early attempts at creating a working government in the U.S.

·        The students will locate land gained by Americans after the victory of the Revolution.

·        The students will recognize that the Articles of Confederation was the first government of the U.S.

·        The students will examine the Ordinance of 1785 and its impact on settlement west of the Appellation Mts.

·        The students will identify the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation and the need to form a new government

·        The students will identify major disagreements during the Constitutional Convention

·        The students will illustrate the problems and solutions of the Constitutional Convention

·        The students will examine the major compromises of the Constitutional Convention

·        The students will explain the process of ratification of the Constitution

·        The students will recognize the argument between the Federalists and Anti-Federalists over the ratification of the Constitution and the need for a Bill of Rights.
