Unit Objectives:

·        The students will identify the main sections of the Constitution and their function

·        The students will compare and contrast the Constitution with the Articles of Confederation.

·        The students will describe the American beliefs that are apparent in the Preamble to the Constitution.

·        The students will identify the principles of the Constitution

·        The students will diagram the concept of Federalism and how it works in our country.

·        The students will describe the powers held by the federal government, state government, and shared powers.

·        The students will describe the role of each branch in the checks and balances system

·        The students will illustrate the checks and balances process

·        The students will identify the freedoms granted to U.S. citizens by the Bill of Rights
