Introduction To Industrial Materials and Processes, Industrial Technology I&II or Wood Technology I&II

Course Description:

This course is designed to resemble the research and development labs that many manufacturing companies operate to design, construct, and market new products.  Students will work individually and on teams to design and construct a prototype of a product that would be useful in today’s society.  Effort will be made to market products designed by students.

Instructional Resources:

AutoCAD 2000 software, AutoDesk Inc., Fremont, CA.  Internet. 
Industrial Research And Development Course Outcomes

As a result of their participation in this course, students will:

  1. Recognize the necessity and effectiveness of the team in the workplace.

  1. Identify and use the design process in the development of a product.

  1. Use computer software, drafting equipment, metalworking equipment, or wood- working equipment in constructing a product.

  1. Identify time management skills.

  1. Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  1. Use proper safety procedures when working with tools, machinery, materials, and co-workers.

  1. Develop and awareness of career opportunities and coursework that could be chosen to prepare for the research and development of product design and improvement.

  1. Identify personal leadership skills
