Needs Assessments:
2 You have
identified well your districts’ hardware and software availability. Your
technology needs assessment should now begin to start focusing on aligning
technology needs with instructional needs that have been identified through
your school improvement process. Utilize your school improvement plans and
school report cards to identify those areas that technology could strengthen
and use this section to expand upon those ideas. Please also state the
frequency of your assessment process.

Vision Statement:
2 Again, try to commit to paper your commitment to
utilize technology to increase student learning goals within your general
curriculum.
3
Goals:
2 Your existing goals
could be used to bring this area up to a 3 rating. Alter the objectives to
include some that relate to the implementation of the school’s improvement plan
and other learning goals beyond those of technology skills. The current
objectives read as very technology skill related without making more than an
inferred link to the increase they will achieve in student learning in other
curricular areas.
2 How closely do your goals and objectives tie
to the school improvement plans in your district?
Use Assessments:
2 The listed assessments will
establish a baseline for technology skills. There is a need for listing
instructional assessments that will help correlate technology skill improvement
with content learning in other curricular areas.
2 Assessments need to include more than surveys.
Integration:
2 You have given a good
description of how technology is used currently in your district, but you need
to define further how technology will be integrated into the learning
environment. Are teachers focusing on specific subjects? Is there a focus on
particular grade level benchmarks? How will these needs be met after the grant
projects are over?
2 Are there any
benchmarks in your district for how well integration is taking place and at
what level?
Integration Assessments:
2 An expanded description
of how the assessment results are being utilized would clarify how these
assessments help in the decision making process. For example, is the data being
used to focus on increasing student scores on specific student learning
outcomes or to increase the number of learning outcomes that have technology
included in them?
2 You might use some
other instruments besides a survey.
Professional
Development:
2 Additional professional development
activities should be offered that instructs and mentors the teachers in
integrating technology into the curriculum. You have provided them with
technology skills and an incentive to include those skills in their lessons,
now give them instruction in how to effectively do this to impact student
learning. Help them optimize their learning environment so that technology is
an integral part of what they are already doing and not an additional burden
and requirement to be completed.
3 Have you considered setting up some sort of
mentorship program for staff to help other staff members?

Assess:
2 Assessment methods are
in place to judge teacher learning of technology skills and a minimal
measurement of what usage of these skills they have in the classroom. Expand
your assessments to include how teachers have altered their instruction to
allow technology to impact classroom curricular goals.
