Planning Web Pages
It is a good plan
to storyboard your web pages on paper before you start. Make sure that you know what will go on it
page.
Some design tips:
Include:
·
Name
& city (state)
·
Phone
number(s) (include area code)
·
Upcoming
events
·
Revision date (and copyright)
·
Feedback form (mailto message)
The viewer should not have to scroll on your
home page if possible.
Avoid putting too much text on any one
page. Split into multiple pages if
necessary.
Avoid excessively bright or dark backgrounds
and text colors. They are difficult to
read.
Check out some web sites that you think are
well designed and decide why they look good.
Avoid frames.
Avoid animated or blinking graphics and sounds
unless they serve a purpose.
Avoid putting too many graphics on one
page. It slows the load time.
Check
your page on different browsers and different sized monitors
Be sure the links work (recheck after updating
any pages)
Limit the amount of text per page. Provide links to new pages rather than
putting too much text on one page. Leave white space.
Left-justify text and center most titles and
headers
Use lists when possible
People come to a page for content, not glitz
