File Open to open your graphic

 

If you do not like any of your changes, do CTRL and Z to undo them.

 

It is a wise idea to do File Save As as soon as you open the picture so that you do not harm your original.

 

To Rotate a Graphic

Image Rotate

Click the appropriate rotate button

Click OK

 

To Crop a Graphic

Click the Crop icon

Click and drag to select the part of the picture you wish to keep

Image Crop

Click OK

 

 

To Resize a Graphic

Image Resize

Change either the Width or Height to the size you want.  It will automatically resize the other dimension.

Click OK

 

 

NB: If you try to “enlarge” a graphic too much, you will start seeing “pixelization” – little squares of color.  The higher the resolution of the original graphic, the more you can enlarge it without distortion.

 

To Reduce the Resolution of a Graphic

File Properties

Click the drop down arrow beside Type

Select Palette or 256 Colors or one of the others for B/W

You can change the number in the Resolution box to reduce the size of the file more.  It may take some playing to find the right size.

Click OK

 

 

To Adjust the Light & Color

Image Balance

Moving the Brightness button to the right lightens the picture.  Moving it to the left darkens the color.

 

Moving the Contrast button to the right increases contrast.  Moving it to the left decreases the contrast.

 

Moving the Gamma button to the right increases color intensity.  Moving it to the left decreases the color intensity.

 

 

To Change the Effects

Effects Select the effect you want

 

 

 

To Change File Formats

File Save As

Click the Save as type drop down arrow

Select the format that you want

 

File Formats

·        Tif – very large files and not supported by some programs

·        Bmp – relatively large files

·        JPG – good for color pictures

·        GIF – good for B/w pictures and color

·        PNG – newest file format
