MODEL SOURCE AND NOTE CARDS

                                                   Model Source Cards

Assign each source a different letter of the alphabet which you put in the upper right-hand corner.  Then list the source in MLA format just as you would list it in your bibliography.

                    Source A

"How Much Is Just Enough?"           Time  03 Apr. 1989: 17.

                   Source B

Cliff, Eleanor, and Rich         Thomas.  "It's Sacred - But is it Smart?" Newsweek  17 Apr 1989: 7.

                                                      Model Note Cards

As you take notes from each source, put the same letter on the note cards that you assigned that source on your source card.  Below, the "A" tells you that these notes came from 03 Apr 1989 copy of Time while the "B" tells you that those notes came from the 17 Apr 1989 copy of Newsweek.

Put the ideas into your own words.  If you wish to quote something or you have statistics that you must cite, copy the material exactly as it appears in the source and include the page number where it was found.  It is a good idea to put quotation marks around it to remind you that you should quote and cite that material.
