Students will assume the role of a travel guide planning an educational trip through Europe. In planning this tour, students should pay specific attention to cultural, historical, and geographical characteristics of Europe.

Scenario: You are a travel guide planning an educational tour of several European countries. Your tour planning should include the following:
1.four European countries that you consider essential to understanding Europe and the reasons why they are essential.
2.points of interest that are essential to experiencing your country and the reasons why they are essential.
3.modes of transportation you plan to use, benefits and drawbacks of each, and cost analysis of your transportation.
4.plans for lodging, including a description of accommodation and a cost analysis.
5.cultural differences your tourists will experience in various regions (food, clothing, customs, art, etc.).

Student projects can take the form of a paper, PowerPoint presentation, poster, medical chart, 3D model, brochure-- anything that will communicate genuine understanding.

Students will demonstrate real understanding of Europe's geography, culture, and history.

Hook the student
Handout pictures of major sites in Europe. Ask students to write captions for the pictures without knowing what they're about. Challenge students to draw conclusions about Europe from what they see in the pictures.

Equip the student, explore the subject
Students will encounter terminology, stories, and attitudes found in Europe.

Rethink and revise opportunities
Students will discuss their opinions about European life with other students and present the tour they plan to the rest of the class.

Evaluate performance and progress
Formative evaluations will consist of reading assignments and quizzes, constructed responses to reading and video, discussion and debates, unit test.
