Stage 2: Determine Acceptable Evidence

 

Assessment Summary:
Students will develop a persona
l fitness plan and explain its benefit.

Student Directions:

You are a personal trainer who has been hired to develop a personal fitness plan for a client.  Your plan should cover one week.  Because your client is not very excited about having to participate, you need to provide a well-developed and convincing argument for your plan. 

Other assessment evidence to be collected:

Homework – The student will take a pre and post assessment analysis on their personal fitness.

Quiz - - The quiz consists of 10 multiple-choice questions, 20 matching, and 20 true false questions. The quiz content includes unit vocabulary, definitions, and recalling of facts.

 

Stage 3: Plan Learning Experiences and Instruction

 

Learning Activities:

Students are given a pre-test and post test on their personal fitness.  Background discussion on programs, managing strategies, and health consequences.

Heart rate monitors.  How to use to benefit the target heart rate.

Teacher lecture with class discussion.

Informational worksheets on the fitness.

Peer critique of fitness programs. 

Each student will critique the fitness program worksheets. 

The students will then be able to update and finalize their program. 

Surveys will then be posted around the classroom for other classes to view.

Story critique - Each student will plan an exercise program for a YMCA toddler program.
