Creating a Brochure with Word

 

·        Open a Word document

·        File Þ Page Setup

·        Change Page Layout to Landscape

·        Adjust top and bottom margins to 1 inch and the left and right margins to .4 inches

·       Click OK

·        Format Þ Columns

·        Select 3 columns and set the Spacing to .6

·        Click OK

  • Tools Þ Options and click in the Text Boundaries box.  This turns on the lines to help you position the text boxes.

·        Click in the Line Between box - lines will not appear until you have information in column 2 or 3

·       Click OK

·        Insert Þ Break

·        Select Page Break

·        Click OK - this creates the two pages for the brochure

·        Click the Text Box icon from the Drawing toolbar  

·        Create a text box and enter the desired text

·        You can modify the text by highlighting it and changing the font style or size

·        To turn lines on the text box off, right click on the outside border and select Format Text Box.  Select Color under line and select No line.  Click OK.

·        To insert graphics, create a new text box and click inside the text box

·        Insert Þ Picture Þ Clip Art (or from file if you are inserting files from a disk or the hard drive)

·        Select the desired graphic and click the Insert key

·        You can resize the graphic by clicking on one of the small boxes in a corner and then dragging outward

·       To select and move multiple text boxes at the same time, hold the shift key down and click on the boxes to move to select them

·       If your printer will duplex print, you want to flip the sides when you duplex.
