Formatting a Word Document / Cut & Paste
Selecting Text
Double click on word - Selects word
Click, hold, drag - Selects specific words
Move cursor to left until arrow appears then single click - Selects line
Move cursor to left until arrow appears then double click - Selects paragraph
Move cursor to left until arrow appears then triple click - Selects document
Ctrl A - Selects all text

Select text to change and then click the drop down font arrow
Select
text to change and then click the drop down font size arrow
You may simple type in a font size not on the drop down list (i.e. 11.5)
Select
the text and click the Font Color
icon if the displayed color is the one you want
To change the color, click the drop down arrow beside the Font Color icon and click on the desired font color. Select black to return to black font.
You
may have to click on the More Buttons
drop down arrow to display the Font
Color icon
Select the text and click the Highlight icon if the displayed color is the one you want
To change the color, click the drop down arrow beside the Highlight icon and click on the desired font color.
To turn off highlighting, click the icon again.
You may have to click on the More Buttons drop down arrow to display the Highlight icon
Select
the text and click the Bold
icon or Ctrl B
Select the text and click the Italic icon or Ctrl I
Select the text and click the Underline icon or Ctrl U
Hit
the Tab key or the Increase Indent icon
New Page
Ctrl Enter
To
undo an action, hit the Undo Typing icon or Ctrl Z
Line
SpacingOn the menu bar, select Format Þ Paragraph
Select the drop down arrow for Line Spacing
Select the desired line spacing
Click OK
MarginsOn the menu bar, select File Þ Page Setup
Adjust the margins with the up or down arrows or by typing the desired margin settings
Click OK
Page
LayoutOn the menu bar, select File Þ Page Setup
Click the Paper Size tab
Select Portrait (8½ x 11”) or Landscape (11 x 8½”)
Click OK
Select the text and

Click
the Cut icon
· Edit Þ Cut
·
Ctrl X
Select the text and
· Click the Copy icon
· Edit Þ Copy

· Ctrl C |

Paste
Put the cursor where you wish to place the text and
· Click the Paste icon
· Edit Þ Paste
· Ctrl V
