To Save Files from the Internet

·        Right click on the graphic

·        Select Save Picture As

·        Click the Save In drop down arrow to select the location to save the graphic.  It is good practice to save to the Trash directory or to a floppy disk.

·        Click Save

 

To Insert a Graphic

·        Place cursor where graphic is to be located

·        Insert Þ Picture Þ From File

·        Click Look in: drop down arrow

·        Select the drive where the graphic is located

·        Select the desired graphic

·        Click Insert

 

*You can also insert Clip art by selecting Insert Þ Picture Þ Clip Art*

If you are doing complex layouts, it is a good idea to create a table, insert the graphics and text into the table and then turn off the table lines.  The table allows greater control over the formatting.

 

To Format a Graphic

·        Click on the graphic once to select.  Formatting boxes will appear

·        Right click

·        Select Format Picture

·        Select Layout

·        Select Tight

·        Select desired alignment

·        Click OK

 

 

To Position a Graphic

·        Click once on the graphic to select

·        Move the cursor over the graphic until the four-arrowed cursor appears

·        Click, hold, & drag graphic to desired location

·        Text will automatically flow around picture if you formatted the picture

To Resize a Graphic

·        Click once on the graphic to select

·        To change height or width drag on middle handles

·        To change size proportionately, drag on a corner handle

                                                     

 

To Delete a Graphic

·        Click once on the graphic to select

·        Hit the Delete key

 

To Add a Caption

·        Click once on the graphic to select

·        Insert Þ Caption

·        Click at the end of the Caption Box and add the information about the graphic.  If you are using a graphic from the Internet, this is where you would add identifying information for the Works Cited page.

·        Change the Position of the caption if desired

·        Click OK
