·        When finished entering all information, save the file before proceeding (I warned you so don’t email me if you don’t save now and then have problems later.

Turning off the lines

·        Click in the top cell on the left hand column of the table

·        Hold the mouse down and drag down to highlight only the left side of the table

·        Right click in the highlighted area and select Borders and Shading

·        Click the Apply To drop down arrow on the lower right and select Cell

·        Click the None button on the upper left

·        Save the document (I’m warning you again)

·        Click in the top cell on the right hand column of the table

·        Hold the mouse down and drag down to highlight only the left side of the table

·        Right click in the highlighted area and select Borders and Shading

·        Click the Apply To drop down arrow on the lower right and select Cell

·        Click the Right line icon (right side of the window)

·        Click OK

·        That should have turned off the vertical lines on the right side of the table.  If so, save again!  If not, hit undo (Control Z) and repeat this step.

·        Highlight only the very top cell on the right of the table

·        Right click and select Borders and Shading

·        Click the Apply To drop down arrow on the lower right and select Cell

·       Click the Top line icon (right side of the window)

·        Click OK

·        That should have turned off the top line of the very top cell on the right side of the table, leaving all of the other bottom lines of the cell turned on.  If so, save again!  If not, hit undo (Control Z) and repeat this step.

Saving Options

·        Save as a Word document to a folder on your network where students can access the file.  Have them open the file in Word and immediately do FileSave as and save to their own folders.  This option will allow them to actually type the answers to the questions in the form and save it.  Students will probably have to hold down the Control key and then click on the hyperlinks to go to the web sites.  If students don’t have network access, you can copy the file to floppy disks (one for each student) and they can work off the floppy disks.

·        Do FileSave as a web page and then save to your web server or to a folder on your network where students can access the file.  When students go to the folder and double click, the web browser will open.  Students can go to the web sites but will not be able to type their answers in the form so you will probably have to print out copies and have them write down the answers.  This option defeats the purpose of the response form but it is an option.
